However I still like the signing.<br /><br />I don&#39;t think we are as desperate for starting pitching as most would have you think. McDonald, Stults, Haeger, Elbert, and Lindblom are gunning for a shot at the starting rotation, and I don&#39;t see any reason to not give these guys a shot.<br /><br />This is my opinion but Manny was a malcontent in Boston and has had zero issues since arriving to the Dodgers. Padilla was a malcontent in Texas, and enjoyed his time so much with the Dodgers he signed on for another year. <br /><br />Sheets is risky, and Colletti hasn&#39;t had the best luck here. We all saw how guys like that affect a clubhouse (Jeff Kent, Kevin Brown, Gary Sheffield, Brad Penny...). That said, he is on a one year deal and will likely behave so he can get an extension or another deal next year.<br /><br />I like the signing...mostly because we are DESPERATE for SPs. Is it laughable to anybody else that up until yesterday we only had 3 starters? If we are done shopping, who is supposed to fill in for an injury to any of our 4 SPs?<br /><br />I say we trade Sherrill for a reliable starter.
